Fall is one of the prettiest times of year in Loudoun, particularly out west, and one of the best ways to take it all in is by heading outside. One of my favorite family outings each fall is a trip to the pumpkin patch and corn maze. Here are a few of your options in Loudoun – places you can just go grab a pumpkin and some you can make a day of it and bring your kids home nice and tired!
Temple Hall Farm & Corn Maize – Leesburg
Great corn maze, tractor rides to pick your own pumpkin, goats and chickens to feed, and a few fun non-farm activities like a climbing wall and giant jumping pillows. This has become one of my favorites because of the corn cannons and pumpkin blasters which are a big hit with my oldest son.
Great Country Farms – Bluemont
One of Loudoun’s original agri-entertainment spots, GCF has a little bit of everything in addition to great pumpkins. Make sure to catch a pig race, stop for a snack, and get lost in the corn maze. Go soon and you can still pick your own apples. If you have never eaten an apple picked right from the tree, you need to!
Wegmeyer Farms – Hamilton
If you want a good pumpkin patch without a lot of fuss (or an admission charge!) take the pretty drive to Wegmeyer’s. Grab a wagon and pick your pumpkin from the 50+ varieties offered, take a hayride, and enjoy the scenery. I first discovered Wegmeyer’s in strawberry season years ago and look forward to visiting every October now too.
