Just off Route 7, on the Northern side of Ashburn, sits the One Loudoun development. While the Alamo movie theatre was the first retail space to open five years ago, there are now lots of dining and shopping options, mixed in with some office space and entertainment, that provides something for everyone.

Perhaps one of the best-known retail spots to open in the last couple of years is Loudoun’s first and only Trader Joe’s store. It joined other national names like Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, and Great Gatherings.

For something local and unique check out The Jeans Whisperer and Scout & Molly’s – both filled with great women’s fashion and incredibly helpful staff. Another one of a kind stop is Fortessa/Sterling restaurant supply where you can buy beautiful dinnerware from the people who supply more than 75% of the nation’s 4 and 5 star hotels – I’ve found their dishes at a Ritz Carlton or two.

The central plaza is popular with kids thanks to the splash pads and play areas. It is also a great place to sit and people watch or enjoy one of the concerts or movie nights held on the stage.

Recently they added to the fun vibe of the area with a couple of pop up shops just off Thorndike St. Fantasticks  and The Pit Stop BBQ are currently in the spots so whether you want to cure your sweet cravings with an amazing gelato popsicle or get your BBQ on, you are covered.

Speaking of food…the space formerly filled by Hail & Hog is being taken over and converted to two establishments.  City Tap Kitchen & Craft will open on the ground level of the corner property and The Lost Fox Hideaway will be upstairs, making use of the indoor/outdoor bar and patio. They are additions to an already vibrant dining scene that includes Nando Peri-Peri, Copperwood Tavern (amazing brunch), Uncle Julio’s, Burgers Beer & Bourbon, and Sense of Thai (my favorite Thai food in the area).

If you want to live in One Loudoun, be prepared to enjoy the lux life!  There are new luxury rental apartments in addition to ONE Central Park, 35 unique and beautifully finished modern condominiums, all currently under construction. There are still townhomes being built in the area by Miller & Smith if you prefer to live in multi-level luxury.  One Loudoun is a great way to live the good life in Loudoun County.
