It used to be you came for dinner or a drink, to meet someone for coffee or to look at antiques. I don’t know about you but I always felt like something was missing and there should be more places to browse or more variety in the food in Historic Downtown Leesburg. Don’t get me wrong, I love my “old” date night favorites like Lightfoot and The Wine Kitchen but after enjoying an excellent meal at either spot, there wasn’t much else to do in town.
Well what is old is new again and if you haven’t spent much time in the Historic part of town in the last 6 months, you need to go!
As far as dining, fun local eateries have been popping up like Senor Ramon’s Taqueria and Bites Wine & Grilled Cheese bar on King St. Just a block away Balls of Glory (all meatballs served all ways) just opened on Loudoun St, not far from the County parking garage. Right around the corner are some tried and true dining spots – Tuscarora Mill, Fireworks Pizza, and South Street Under Deli.
I plan to go back and hit some of the new shopping spots on King St, including Brick & Mortar. So many pretty things and something for everyone on your gift list. Sunflower Shack and Misguided Angels have moved from other Loudoun locations to downtown Leesburg, providing even more opportunity to browse and shop.
It has been happening over a period of a couple years but the beer and wine scene in town has seen several new and popular arrivals including the only United States outpost for Belgian’s Delirium café. Shoes Cup and Cork has you covered whether you are looking for coffee or something stronger and has the cutest “Secret Garden” complete with bocce courts in the back. Tarbender’s Lounge, Sidebar, and King St Oysters all get rave reviews and that is just one side of King St! For a pint, head across the street to Black Hoof Brewing.
Leesburg has always been a fun place with special events like First Fridays, concerts on the green, car shows, carriage rides, the parade on July 4, the big flower show and so much more. Now you can find great destinations any day of the week/year.
